Optimizing Double Bagger production line in SAP APO

Hi guys! I´m in the middle of an APO Implementation and we are having a particular issue that we found a little tricky.

This is the situation: We have many production lines that makes two different products at the same time (One common entry - two packing lines at the end). In ECC we have one Line Code for each packing Line.

For example:

LINE 1A IS PRODUCING SKU A

LINE 1B IS PRODUCING SKU B

PRODUCT A AND PRODUCT B MUST BE FROM THE SAME FAMILY (they are different counts of the same product)

The question is: How can I use PPDS Optimizer considering that Line 1A and Line 1B are not totally independent?

Any help or idea you can bring to this board will be really preciated!

Thank you in advance!

Hello Pablo,

You can use the pooled resource. Create the pooled capacity in CR11 make it relevant for finite scheduling.

For your resource LINE 1A crate new Capacity category ex 001 and assign the crated Pooled capacity there.

For resource LINE 1B Capacity category 001 and assign the same Pooled capacity there too.

During the integration of the R/3 system and the APO system, capacities are transferred as resources to the APO system. The APO system stores the assignment of capacities to R/3 work centers in the resource.

CIF these resources to APO you will have common pooled capacity between these two lines.

In so while planning system will consider these pooled capacity for these resource and products.

Hi Pablo,

One option might be try to use coproducts scenarion with parallel sequences where resource A and B start at same time and producte product A and B as coproducts  from single order.

You may need consider impact on integration with ECC.

Santosh
