Delete a PO line items when the Cost Center has been closed

Hi gurus,

what happens if I try to delete the line items of a PO whose Cost Center has been closed? Can I do that?

Hello Julie,

By closing the cost center do you mean locking the posting on cost center ? If yes then it is possible to delete the PO line items.

When you lock the postings on the cost center and then when you try to do a GR against the PO wherein the cost center is used then it will throw an error message which goes as "Cost center XXXXXXXXX blocked against direct postings on XX.XX.XXXX"

But however it will allow you to delete the PO line items.

However by closing cost center if you mean deleting the cost center then if you try to go to KS04 to delete it then there will be a error message indicating that it is not possible to create the cost center because of the transactional documents which are available. In this case i think only archiving is possible but for that we need to check the implications before we go ahead and delete / archive it.

So what exactly are you trying to do by closing the cost center.
