Hi,

In old Universe design Tool could drag tables from canvas and it woudl create classess with objesct automtically.

Trying same in IDT tool but doesn't seem to be doing this.

Is this possible Possible - quicker than manually creating classes/objects

Thanks

Hi Philip,

Make sure you are dragging from a view of the tables within the business layer and not from the data foundation itself (though the two look awfully similar). Dragging a table and dropping it in the side panel will automatically create a class with objects for each column.

Note that the data foundation needs to saved in order for you to correctly see the updated or newly added tables.

Hi Emily,

Thanks - this is what was doing - think problem was that I wasn't dragging to right place.

When I select table and drag on to business layer name works now as expected.

Thanks everyone.

Hi

It’s possible to drag objects from data foundation layer into business layer in IDT, once you have completed the data foundation then save.

1. Select the BL

2. The right bottom you can able to see the DF (tables and related fields) , select field/ table and drag and drop in the BL.

3. Drag and drop the Table/Filed

But as a best practice we should create objects at business layer. Please find the below screenshot.

Hi,

Thanks for advice.

Doesn't seem to work on this side - is this only available when have an empty business layer or in certain versions?

Have just created the objects

Thanks

Hi Philip,

When creating Business layer on top of data foundation it will show up the option called "Automatically create classes and Objects", please check that option while creating.

Hi Ravi,

This is an existing business layer - just adding couple of tables to the data foundation and creating folders with classes/objects  based upon these.

Is this possible?

Thanks

Hello Philip,

Once you add the tables in data foundation you need to insert candidate Objects in Business Layer, then it will automatically add classes and objects to particular universe.

Hi Philip,

Right click on the universe and select "Insert Candidate Objects" from context menu in Business Layer.

Hi Ravi,

Thanks

I don't see compute statistics or insert candidate objects.

Using bo4 sp08.

Perhaps these only available on later version?

Thanks

Hi Philip,

Please note that Insert candidate objects applies only to business layers that are based on multisource-enabled data.
