How to configure SMTP node with authentication to mail server

Former Member

Hi Experts,

We have configured SMTP through scot by giving mail server IP & port 25. We asked mail server team to add our ECC ip as trusted ip.

But Mail server team is saying that authentication is mandatory and they will provide user id & password for that purpose.

We tried to convince them but they are not accepting as per their policies.

Is anyone knows how to configure SCOT to send external mail with the authentication in mail/exchange server.

Best Regards,

Manoj

Thanks all,

SNOTEs are very useful.

Mail server team are not agreeing to add SAP system as trusted as per their policies. Asking us to use credentials to authenticate. Our SAP system is beyond level to 7.31.

We advised client to convince them or  install a rely server to authenticate mail server in the landscape.

Manoj

Hi Manoj,

In that case you can use the SMTP virtual server (flow: SAP --> SMTPvirtual server-->Mail hosting server-->End user)

In the virtual SMTP server outbound connection tab you can use the authentication as given by the Mail server team.

Please refer below thread for more information

Hi,

Since SAP Sends unauthenticated mails via SMTP server.

Recently we moved to cloud from our local exchange server.

And to send mails we configured relay server which authenticates mail and send to the mail server.

This has helped us. Hope it will help you as well.

Please reply if you have queries.

Thanks,

Sharib
