SOLMAN_SETUP Managed System Configuration issue "The definition of Technical System ABAP is not correct"

Hi Experts ,

I am configuring solution manger 7.1 & now I am on managed system configuration step 11 check configuration .

when i execute this activity its giving some error .

The definition of Technical System 'SOL~ABAP' is not correct: 'SOL~ABAP': Operating System 'Windows NT~6.2' of Host 'solmgr' must have at least one Software Component Version.


please find below screen shot for your kind reference.



I have check  SAP Note 1611483 but unable to solve this issue.


Please guide me what step was i configured wrong or was i missed .


as per my knowledge i have checked many things  but all is fail.


i am stuck on this steps .


please guide me .


how to solve this error.

Hello Upendra ,

My issue has been resolved ..now i have successfully done system preparation, basis configuration & managed system configuration of Solution manager .

Now I am closing this thread ...

Hi Upendra Sir,

Good Morning ..

Yes my issue has been resolved I was enter wrong HTTP port for massage Server into step 5 "Enter Systems Parameters"..

I was entering 50000 Port before ,but actually its 8101...So I correct the same ..

I also read SAP Note 1678469 -find right port & correct the same.

I have also completed managed system configuration for JAVA stack..

I am only find some ST-PI & ST-A/PI  not the required software component for ABAP system.

Please find the below screen shot.

please let me how can i upgrade the same as per requirement.

As your initial issue got resolved, could you please close the thread with resolution points, thank you.

For ST-PI/ST-A/PI update, kindly execute se38  -> RTCCTOOL and follow the instructions recommended in  RTCCTOOL/SAP Notes, please open new thread if you face any issue, thank you.

Hi Sanjiv,

Could you adjust the extended id for Java stack in LMDB (SOL00001 - > SOL) and Execute the Verification.

For "500 Connection Timeout" error, it could be different reasons for this issue, kindly look for logs in SM21 or ST22 to find-out the exact root cause.

Thanks for your reply.

"500 Connection Timeout" error has been fixed now i am able see managed system configuration page for JAVA system.


all icm parameters is ok . its issue of Sybase  Database Side .


i have manually update index statistics of a table for Sybase ASE database

Hello Upendra Sir,

if i Could not adjust the extended id for Java stack in LMDB (SOL00001 - > SOL) .

And configured managed system configuration for Java stack with extended id SOL00001 which is assigned by default ..

any issue or not ..???

Please reply i am confuse on this topic.

Hi Sanjiv,

please follow the below steps to adjust the Java Extended Id same as ABAP stack and kindly let me know if you face any issues while adjusting, thank you.

LMDB -> Technical Systems -> Application Server Java -> SOL00001 -> Edit

then expand the tab "Advanced" - >change Extended ID.

It is good to change the Extended ID same as ABAP stack to avoid unknown issues in future.

sorry but i already start Java Stack configuration with ext id SOL00001 for Java.

& currently i have configured step 5 ....without any error .

Hi Upendra Sir,

I get the following error message during at step 6 “Create Users”  into managed system configuration for Java Stack

Error massage "E: CL_DIAGSTP_MESSAGE:485"

  Failed to connect, P4 port=50004 SID=SOL Instance Number=00
Connection error to SAP System sid [SOL/null], more details about the error in agent 'solmgr' log file (SMDAgentApplication.X.log).; nested exception is:
java.io.IOException: invalid response from message server: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found(cause=java.io.IOException invalid response from message server: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found)

Hi Sanjiv,

Could you please check the below points, thank you.

1) Execute the verification for ABAP/JAVA in LMDB (If you did not performed before),

2) Kindly check the Test URL/Logins in 4th phase of managed system configuration,

3) Restart the Host agent and SMD agents (clean restart) and again the configuration steps,

Hello Upendra Sir,

I didn't find any sub step into (Managed System Configuration -> phase 8 -> Select the "Byte Code Adaptor Installation".)


could you please give me any alternate to check Netwear tab will appear  in wily introscope.

As early i told you that  i have raised a massage to SAP ..yesterday they replied  maybe they will check & troubleshoot  issue today. once my issue  will be resolve i will update you ..

Hi Sanjiv,

Please follow the below steps to get IS Agent status, thank you.

1) Please open Managed System Configuration TAB,

2) Select your Solman System -> Phase 8 (Automatic Configuration) -> Select the "Byte Code Adapter Installation".

3) Then Goto Logs session and click on "SHOW

Click on SHow, it will open as a new IE session, like below,

Hi Sanjiv,

If i am not wrong, Solution manager system is dual stack till now. But as per your screenshot you are checking only ABAP Stack information.

Can you please check and confirm the SLD data is updated form both the stacks. In SLD you should have two entries (One is for ABAP and other is for JAVA).

If you are able to see the data for both the stacks, please open the Managed System setup like below,

All DUAL stack systems should open like below,

Yes Sir,

you are right , that solman has dual stack i have also check SLD & have two entries (One is for ABAP

and other is for JAVA).

but maybe I was doing wrong configuration because I have first select ABAP system in Managed System Configuration & click configure system.

i have not select DUAL stack systems into technical scenarios.

Am i right or wrong ..??

if I have done wrong configuration please guide how to correct it or what is next step for me to correct it ...

Hi Sanjiv,

No issues, you can configure the system as you like (First ABAP, then JAVA or Both at a time).

Now Please follow the below steps,

1) Goto LMDB -> Technical Systems -> Select JAVA application servers -> Search for "SOL00001", Then change the Extended ID from SOL00001-> SOL.

NEW Extended System ID: SOL -> click on Execute Change.

Save the Changes, then go to Product systems from LMDB main screen and assign to techinical system.

Execute the Verification and assign the Diagnostic Relevant - > SAVE.

Start the Managed System setup  from Technical Scenarios,

Hi Upendra Sir,

Sorry for late response i was stuck into my another SAP ECC issue.

But my has been fixed , SAP replied me & they told me that this issue related to SAP Host Agent Upgrade.

Which I was already applied , but may be its getting more time to update because i am using virtual machine instead of physical server may be its issue of performance or any other background job getting more time to complete or refresh .


but now my problem got resolved & now i start managed system configuration of JAVA stack.

but when i select Application Server JAVA & click configure system

But URL not opening & getting "500 Connection timed out " error

Hi Sanjiv,


Please set below parameter if not set. It may help you to resolve the issue.


icm/server_port_0 = PROT=HTTP,PORT=1080,TIMEOUT=60,PROCTIMEOUT=600


SAP restart is required.

I am already set  icm/server_port_0  & parameter value as shown below.

PROT=HTTP,PORT=80$$,TIMEOUT=1800,PROCTIMEOUT=1800

for your kind information I have configure managed system configuration for ABAP system successfully there is no issue but when i select Application Server JAVA & click configure system

as show in last screen shot I  am received  "500 Connection timed out " error.

Please let me know what is the issue .

Hi Sanjiv,

As you mentioned in earlier about upgrade of Host Agent,

can you please check below entries are maintained in host_profile file,

service/porttypes = SAPHostControl SAPCCMS SAPOscol

service/admin_users = smdadm daaadm (Note: only one user, which was used for smd agent installation).

After upgrade, did you restarted the Host agent and SMD agents ?

and After upgrade, restarted the Host agent manually & also restart the server on OS level.

i also check SAP_LMDB_LDB_* jog in SM37 ..its successfully finished as shown below.

Hi Sanjiv,

As discussed, Could you please edit your Host_profile file with below parameter and take the restart of Host Agent and SMD Agent, then re-try the setup.

File Name: host_profile

Paramter: service/admin_users = daaadm SOLMGR\SAPServiceDAA

And also check your wily introscope, Is your Solman System properly added into wily. If your configured system is apearing or not.

If you are able to see the system in wily, may be you can ignore the current error.

1) Logon to wily -> Investigator ->

Hi Upendra Sir,

As per your advise I have modified host_profile parameter as shown below.

service/admin_users = daaadm SOLMGR\SAPServiceDAA

& Restart SAP Host Agent & SMDAgent also I restart my server at OS level.

then I check wily -> Investigator -> I found my solution ,manager entry here as show below screen shot.


Then i again run solman_setup & step 11 check configuration but i received same error.

please reply what i will do now.

Hi Sanjiv,

As of my knowledge configuration is completed and your Solman System is already appear in wily introscopre as well (ABAP Stack info) (As per your screenshot).

Could you please check the IS Agent info and take the Restart (if required),

1) Managed System Configuration -> phase 8 -> Select the "Byte Code Adaptor Installation".

Click on URL -> Show -> it will popup new IE page and shows the IS Agent status (Need Restart or Running).

If status is Need restart, you need to take completed restart of solman.

Then Netwear tab will apear in wily introscope.

and comming to last step error, that just a configuration check, as of knowledge you can ignore this error message as system is appear in wily and able to collect the data, thank you.

Hi Sanjiv,

I hope i am not confusing you, could you please perform the below steps and let me know the results, thank you.

1) Go to SM51 screen in Managed System and note down the active instances (host names).

2) Logon to SLD system and check all active instances are appear same as SM51 screen.

IMP: Please remove if you find any inactive instance (which does not exists in SM51).

http://<hostname>:<portnumber>/sld

Select Managed System -> Applicaiton servers

Please remove host name, if you find which is not belongs to your Managed System (SM51).

3) Logon to solution manager -> LMDB -> Techinical Instances -> Please remove if you find any inactive instanne (as per SM51/SLD data).

4) Restart the Host agent and SMD Agents (Note: Host agent version should be same on both the systems (solman and Managed System).

then try the Managed System setup, thank you.

Please let us know, if you still facing same issue.

as per your guide i have checked SM51 on managed system .

I found my server host name & status is active please see below screen.

But when I check SLD I did not find any Technical System here. please see below screen

Now what I will do ..

Create New Technical System here or anything else ...because there is no system appear here..

i check all select all technical system type ( Web AS ABAP , Web AS JAVA , Standalone & Third Party etc. ) but nothing appear here .

Please guide me what is the next step for me.

Hi Sanjiv,

I guess, you are looking the wrong SLD, without SLD data, we can not see the Managed System data in Solman.

You can find the correct SLD System details in RZ70 (here you can find the SLD URL).

Then you can find the your Technical System data using search option and then check the last updated date (If data is not up to date, please trigger the data from RZ70).

Next Goto LMDB -> Select the Technical System -> Advanced -> Syc SLD data from central SLD (Manual sync).

you were right i was checking  wrongs SLD Data.

I am able to see Technical Systems into SLD as seen below.

I can see Application Server & message servers also as seen below.

but when i resync data into LMDB I am receiving below error.

Hope you have performed the following tasks, as per the link

After installing the newest version you need to register using the following command:

sldreg -configure slddest.cfg

Enter your SLD information

Restart the SAP Host Agent - and you are good to go !

May be you are right its a issue of SAP Host Agent Version.

I have check Landscape Browser .

For more clarification please find below screen shot.

as per above screen short please guide me what  i will do now.

will i update SAP Host Agent Version 149 to latest  ?? or its another issue.

Quickly go and read this sap note:

1799138 - Solution Manager configuration check returns "The definition of Technical System '{SID}~{STACK}' is not correct: '{SID}~{STACK}' : Operating System '{OSName}' of Host '{hostname}' must have at least one Software Component Version"

Hi Divyanshu ,

As per your suggestion i have check SAP Note 1483508:Solution Manager 7.1: Root Cause Analysis pre-requisites

Also check 1365123 - Installation of Diagnostics Agents

I think all supported patch level is ok as per note .

Diagnostic Agent is ok because  i have use LATEST SWPM for installtion of solman & diagonstic agent .

My CA Willy also compatible according to 1478974 (Enterprise Manger Releases)

but why i am receiving this error may be i was missed step to assigned technical name .

but i don't know the steps .

if you have any doc or any link to configure Technical System name.

please share ......

Goto LMDB and check for the hostname used for this technical system and vice-versa.

Also, share the screenshot for both once.
