Our company is planning to activate SAP archving for FI/CO/SD/MM/PP modules. Business users have raised concern that archiving requires downtime, meaning all user logon and batcho job have to be stopped. May I know if downtime is really required?
1. initial run
2. delta run
Best regards
Seki
I have 96 different archiving objects that are archived in regular intervals.
We operate globally 24/7, there is no second left to get a downtime for archiving.
Archiving execution does not require any downtime. You can interrupt archiving jobs, during peak times if you need. This can be done from customizing of archiving object independent technical settings (can be accessed from SARA) . Only a real database reorganization may require some downtime.

for archiving downtime is not required .. while delete If you have huge data should not run many jobs Parallel . if you run many job system performance will be worst.
