ADOBE forms to HTML ?

Former Member

Adobe LiveCycle documentation says that it’s possible to render output in HTML format. It’s only possible via *.xdp file. However it does not mention if it’s possible to send it via SAP as HTML email.

Has anyone done research around ADOBE forms to HTML conversion?

Hi Amy,

If you have the full-blow Adobe LiveCycle Enterprise Suite, then you can render .xdp forms as HTML.  However, this HTML is for a web browser, not an e-mail client, so it's no good for the body of an e-mail.

E-mail clients read html but they don't interpret it in the same way as web browsers: for example, Microsoft Outlook 2003 is particularly poor and there is a wealth of information on in the internet in how to compose Outlook-friendly html.  Further, the web browsers don't trigger the 'events' so you can't do calculations within the form - so this means you have to do more in the print program and less in the 'form template'.

The 'Adobe Document Services' within SAP NetWeaver does not support rendering of HTML of any kind.

Getting beautiful HTML e-mails out of SAP is a development task and you need to add your own HTML - there's no way of transforming your existing PDF template into usable HTML.

(This is the kind of consulting project my company undertakes.)

Hope that helps,

Chris
