Hi
We currently use Amazon's default HANA One SPS5 offering (cc2.8xlarge 60.5GB memory - offered at $3.49/hr).
If necessary, due to growing capacity, can we run HANA in the AWS cloud on a larger instance (cr1.8xlarge 244GB memory)? If so, would HANA take advantage of the extra memory and do you know what rate this instance would cost (instance cost + HANA licensing)?
We've found anecdotal comments that this configuration is supported by HANA and it is available from the Amazon marketplace.
If not, are there any plans to support larger capacity either via larger nodes or some type of clustering?
Thanks
Tipton
Tipton,
As ot today, SAP HANA One is configured and optimized to run with CC2.8xlarge 60.5 GB instance at AWS. There is no way anyone can launch and use more than this licensed memory size for HANA One for now.
If you outgrow with your data, please contact SAP to explore options including buying an on-premise SAP HANA appliance or having SAP HANA running at an SAP certified hosting provider with a larger than 64GB memory size.
For new SAP HANA One user, you must be aware of a current promotion. If not,
PROMOTION- February 18- March 31, 2013 - AWS customers who are new to SAP Hana One on the AWS Marketplace will receive $120 of AWS Promotion Credit if they use at least 10 hours of SAP Hana One between February 18 and March 31, 2013. For AWS Marketplace customers who qualify, the Promotional credit will be sent to the email address registered to their AWS Marketplace account. Restrictions apply; see offer terms at https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/help/201119060 for more details.
Thanks,
Swapan
