Same set of managed systems for Solution manager systems in Dev, QA and Prod

Hello experts,

We have 3 tier landscape (dev, qa and prod) for solution manager (SMC, SMQ, SMP) with managed systems (PAD, PAQ, PRD). We are done with ChaRM configuration on development box i.e. (SMC with PAD, PAQ and PRD). So here are few queries I had in order to proceed with my changes to Quality.

1. Should quality SolMan (SMQ) be connected to all three managed systems and tested?
2. Can I use PAD, PAQ and PRD managed systems with SMD and SMQ parallely?

3. Can quality SolMan (SMQ) be tested with virtual managed systems?
Any help in this regard will be much appreciated.
Thanks and Regards,
Sameer

Hi Sameer,

First before answering your questions, use productive Solman SMP for live systems PAD,PAQ,PRD.

Second, leave SMC only for developments and customizing (not manageed systems required)

Third use SMQ with connected virtual Managed system(it can be SMQ itself, just create 3 separate clients in SMQ) to test developments and customizings.

1.No SMQ should not be connected to live systems, only SMP.

2 You can, but this will go to uncontrollable mess with transports.

3.Yes, and it must be tested with virtual. Otherwise you need to ask for hardware to have 3 different managed systems just for test... not worth it.
