RBPD use

Hi experts,

I wanted to know where the RBPD real use will come into picture.

Whatever I understood from various posts is that its a automated tool to generated the solution documentation analysis.

We got a project for which we need to provide support only after implementation by other team.

Can we get using RBPD, the various customization configuration done for various modules including BW as well?

Does it generate the business blueprint kind of document from it?

I am not a solution manager person but wanted to check if RBPD can be helpful to understand the functional configuration and technical objects created in ECC.

thanks in advance

regards,

M

Hello Madhuri,

The way RBPD works, it will indeed generate the Solar01 blueprint.

However, it is not mainly used to understand your configuration : It is used to create a blueprint from your system usage and available objects. So, object (transaction, reports) usage and availability is the key here.

Let's say you download the right RBPD content and use it to create your analysis project: You will have to indicate the logical component that needs to be checked against the content. If your system is productive and has EWA, then you will get the result of what transactions, reports, and z objects are used (RBPD will compare it list of standard object with what it finds in your system).

So, you will not get the "customization", but you can get the list of custom objects.

Then, after you create the blueprint automatically from SoDocA/RBPD, you will have to assign manually these custom objects. The standard IMG configuration points will already be on the blueprint.

For a better analysis of your custom objects, or as a complement to RBPD, you should check CDMS/CCLM.

Roger

Thanks a lot Heiko.

Does it charge extra amount for RBE+?

Where can I get more information about this? Want to know whether we need to apply any patch to have this RBE+ or it comes with solman 7.1?

Hi Madhuri

As mentioned earlier, there are more specific services offered from IBIS apart from the default content helping you to do identification of user role etc

you can check below video for RBE Plus or add on services

IBIS Add-On Services for SAP Solution Manager 7.1 - YouTube

I hope this will help further

thanks

Hello Madhuri,

SAP Solution Manager, SDA and RBPD focus on the identification of process usage, e.g. you will see what transactions/programs are used and how many invoices or GL documents have been created in which period.

If you want to see more details, like document types available, document types used, users who used transactions or created documents in certain organizational units etc. then RBE Plus from IBIS can help. SAP and IBIS developed the RBPD content and RBE Plus provides "supplementary" services on top of SAP Solution Manager or stand alone.

Kind Regards,

Heiko

Hi Madhuri,

RBPD is only used to do initial documentation where customer doesn't have any structure/doc bpml list in solman in simple terms

it will not highlight what company code for e.g is configured it will only say that you are using company code transaction...XXX no. of times and mark it as active ...this will just help you to build and map the structure of your various scenario at high level in your system.

further, if you req is to get the list of all configured items like mentioned above in detail with values rbpd or no other tool exists in solman as of now and only option is to go with some third party tool.

there is one license version of RBPD which is with IBIS and you can try that as one...but again check as per your exact requirement.

Thanks
