Dears,
I have to change the hostname for an host where is running a Sap Content Server based on Maxdb 7.6.0.6, and I need to make sure it continues to work.
No changes to the SID or to the software release, simply the host has to be renamed.
I have gone throught a lot of notes and posts, but I have not found a clear answer about what should be done.
I would like to avoid to do an Homogeneous Systm Copy via backup-restore for this hostname change.
In your opinion what has to be done for the Apache We server ?
And what for the Maxdb users at operating system level ? Wich files are supposed to be changed ?
regards
Hi Roberto,
As the Database is MaxDB you may need to change the hostname in the following areas as well in addition to what has been suggested in above response.
1) XUSER entires for ALL servers as well as for ALL sidadm/SAPServiceSID users
2) You need to maintain entries in db59 /DBCON to point to new host name
With these changes MaxDB should be running with new hostname.

If there are old hostname entries in the cs.conf or ContentServer.ini file you will need to adapt them. As you are on Unix you will need to modify the environment variable files.
Eg: .dbenv_hostname.csh and .dbenv_hostname.sh for the MaxDB user.

Hi Roberto,
For the Apache webserver I think to check-change only the file httpd.conf
yes correct. No other change required.
For Maxdb does not exist a file like the oracle tnsname.ora need to be adjusted?
You need to adjust XUSER entries as explained in my response above.

Sorry the note should be valid from 7.5 and higher releases so seems to be ok.
But it seems to me there is an error when it says ;
.....
DBA user: SAP<SID> (SAP BASIS 6.10 or higher)
xuser -U DEFAULT -u SAP<SID>,<password> -d <database_name> -n <database_server> -S SAPR3 -t 0 -I 0 set
There should not be SAP<SID> in place of SAPR3 ?

Hi Roberto,
Renaming the host mean you'll have to update all the config for OAC0 and CSADMIN including certificates. Other than that it should work fine.
I don't see any reason for you to have any trouble in the box itself or the need for a system copy.
