SAP TDMS 4.0 over SAP HANA

Hello, guys

We're currently executing a Pilot Project to refresh data in our BI development environment. Our landscape has the following characteristics:

Control & Central System:

- Platform: SAP Solution Manager 7.01

- DMIS version: DMIS 2011_1_700 SP06

  DMIS_CNT 2011_1_700 SP06

- RDBMS: Oracle

Sender System:

- Platform: SAP NetWeaver BI 7.31

- DMIS version: DMIS 2011_1_731 SP06

  DMIS_CNT 2011_1_731 SP06

- RDBMS: SAP HANA 1.0

Receiver System:

- Platform: SAP NetWeaver BI 7.31

- DMIS version: DMIS 2011_1_731 SP06

  DMIS_CNT 2011_1_731 SP06

- RDBMS: SAP HANA 1.0

We're executing Package Setting phase. Now the activity "Size Analysis for Tables Relevant for Data Transfer" (activityID TD02P_GETSIZE)is executed with the following errors:

Internal error 4 while calling CNV_TDMS_02_TABLESIZE

We've already debugged this activity (program CNV_TDMS_02_GETSIZE, remotely executed at sender system). The problem is raised at source code line 437, calling CNV_TDMS_02_TABLESIZES function module. In our opinion, it seems TDMS source code isn't currently prepared to run over SAP HANA databases.

We've checked PAM page regarding SAP TDMS 4.0. At overview page, we can see the message:

"Ready for SAP HANA: Ready 13.02.2013" with the following explanation:

Details about the readiness of (parts of) a software product version for SAP HANA. For more information, see the "Database Platforms" or "Database Systems" information of a product instance on the software product version’s tab "Technical Release Information". If the software product version is

classified as an "add-on" type, you can find more information in the corresponding required software product version(s).

In fact, our TDMS infrastructure is deployed in two different versions: SAP NW 7.31 (sender & receiver) and SAP NW 7.01 (central & control). So we don't know if it's currently supported SAP HANA as database.

Could you clarify me this topic?

Hello Sergio,

The activity 'Size Analysis for Tables Relevant for Data Transfer (Optional)' is an optional TDMS activity.

Your findings are correct that the current application API to determine DB size in case of a HANA

database does not work as expected and raises an exception.

This is already in work list for TDMS development team for coming SP releases.

However , this does not stops you to use TDMS copy over a HANA database. You may skip this activity (Mark as completed) and move to the required activities.

This has already been tested and the TDMS copy does work overall on HANA database.

I hoe this would be helpful for your requirement.
