Just want to know whether Visual Composer is still used or is it an obsolete technology. If it is is not used any-more, what is the alternative that is used? If it is still used, what is the latest version.

It's still in use
There is a new run-time developed recently, called VC5, based on SAP UI5 technology, in addition to WebDynpro.
Latest version is 731 SP 13 (also 740 SP 08 that is the same).
