Revision updatae for HANA

Hi ,

We want to update SAP HANA revision from HANA SP08 82 to 83.

1. Could you please help with high level steps. { Note : We are not looking for automatic update but manual one }

2. Also which documents from SAP HANA Platform – SAP Help Portal Page should I refer?

Hi Vinay,

At a high level, you could download Revision 83 and then run hdblcm to update the HANA server.

Please review the guide on how this entire process works in detail.

Hi Jimmy,

So below are the steps for manual update the revision?

1. Download HANA Packages from SMP and place them in local download directory

    e.g  /hana/local/downloads.

2. unpack HANA software packages from to /hana/local/downloads/install dir.

3.login with sidadm

4. Change to dir /hana/local/downloads/install/SAP_HANA_DATABASE

     execute ./hdblcmgui

5.Select the update option, and follow the update GUI

Also can we go from say revision 80 to 83 directly? I mean , do I have to include 81,82 as well or direct to 83 is possible like JSPM patch?

Note : I checked SAP Note 1948334 - SAP HANA Database Update Paths for Maintenance Revisions but did not get the clarity

Hi Vinay,

Yes, you can go directly form 80 to 83. But - when I checked this week, 83 was gone from Download - 84 is the most actual one.

We just upgraded to 84 and that went fine.
