TREX update from 7.1 revision 48 to 61

Hi SAPians,

I have requirement to upgrade trex from 7.1 revision 48 to 61.

I came across the below point.

• From TREX 7.10 Revision 58 on it is no longer possible to upgrade with sapinst. Please follow the steps in the installation/upgrade guide to upgrade TREX 7.10 script based.

I gone through some notes : 1856942 - Latest Revision for TREX 7.10

1021236 – (60) Linux: Using SAP Kernel 7.01 and higher on RHEL4 and SLES9

TREX 7.10: Revision 61, note 2072497

I have gone through installation guide also but i am not getting the pre-requisities proper steps.

Kindly help on it.

Hi Karthik,

Yes, its actually much easier than the sapinst based installation.

Download the latest TREX patch from marked place and uncar it, and the with sidadm user run the following script/command .Latest install.sh script will be available in the TREX patch.

./install.sh --action=update --sid=SID (sid of TREX)

Follow the dialogs as they appear on the screen . The script will also update slave/backup trex instances.

Hi Amit,

It worked fine for me in a non-rac environment including the password in the command as

./install.sh --action=update --sid=<SAPSID> --password=<****>--type=DEFAULT.

Can you suggest me on 11g RAC environment.

Hi Karthik,

I didn't understand your query. How is Oracle 11g RAC environment linked to TREX?

TREX has no database as such, it keeps everything in indexes in memory.

My question was wrong. If i have trex running in two instances. What is the approach.

As I noted earlier

It will ask you to provide the sidadm password for slave/backup trex instances as well and update the TREX software on them as well. ( It automatically identifies this from trex configuration files)

You have to run the script on the master trex instance.

Check the SAP note 2072729.

Replace the python script as mentioned and attached in the note and try to run the upgrade process agian.

How can we upgrade TRX 7.1 in Netweaver 7.4. We are currently revision 44. We wish to update the version along with latest revision 63. Is  there any per-requisite while upgrade the TREX 7.1 in Netweaver 7.4

Hi Pawan,

due to long number of the changes between TREX 710 REV 44 and REV 63 I would like to ask
you to update the TREX to the REV 57 first and patch this to 63 as the 2nd step.
