Dear All,

The problem is solved the both database password are not same.

After creating new password file in primary database and copy on standby database the standby archive folder is receiving log from primary database.

thanks for all

Hello Atif,

I assume that you've edited the tnsora files correctly, since they can ping each other. Here are the required changes both in primary and standby side:

Primary part: Changes in initSID.ora

1-Remove log_archive_dest

2-Add the following lines or update the values with alter system commands:

*.log_archive_dest_1='LOCATION=/oracle/SID/oraarch/SIDarch'

*.log_archive_dest_2='service="SID_DR"','ARCH SYNC NOAFFIRM delay=30 OPTIONAL max_failure=10 reopen=15 register'

*.log_archive_dest_state_1='ENABLE'

*.log_archive_dest_state_2='DEFER'

Standby part: Changes in initSID.ora

1- mkdir /oracle/SID/oraarch/STDARCHIVE

2-Add the following lines or update the values with alter system commands:

*.control_files='/oracle/SID/origlogA/cntrl/standby.ctl'

*.FAL_CLIENT='SID_DR'

*.FAL_SERVER='SID'

*.LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_STATE_1='ENABLE'

*.LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_STATE_2='ENABLE'

*.service_names='SID_DR'

*.STANDBY_ARCHIVE_DEST='/oracle/SID/oraarch/STDARCHIVE'

*.STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT='AUTO'

Dear Serhat,

The Oracle data guard document which i am following there is no step define to make changes in INITSID.ORA in both primary and standby system

and once i also successfully configure data guard in suse Linux following this document

but right now I am installing ORACLE DATA GUARD  in windows environment

the step which i followed

IN PRIMARY SERVER

1- create oracle password file and copy on standby

2- create pfile from spfile , by using LGWR ASYNC process.

3-  create spfile from pfile

4- configure listener

5- configure tnsora

6- create control file and copy on standby

IN STANDBY SERVER

1- create pfile from spfile

2- make changes in pfile

3- then create spfile from pfile

4- make changes in listener

5- make changes in tnsora

also pfile for both system is attached

Hello Atif,

as you wrote pfile: pfile is initSID.ora actually.

Hello Atif,

yes, make changes in pfile then create spfile.

My recommendations on your standby pfile:

1- Use underscore ( _ ) instead of ( . ) :

*.FAL_CLIENT='PRD.STANDBY'

*.FAL_SERVER='PRD.WORLD'

2-Add parameter

*.STANDBY_ARCHIVE_DEST='/oracle/SID/oraarch/STDARCHIVE'

My recommendations on your primary pfile:

Edit the service names PRD:STANDBY to underscore: PRD_STANDBY. Like previous step.

Dear Serhat,

and what about other changes to wrote in previous post ?

only change the following lines in standby pfile

*.FAL_CLIENT= PRD_SATNDBY

*.FAL_SERVER=PRD_WORLD

*.STANDBY_ARCHIVE_DEST='F:\oracle\oraarch\prdarch

changes in primary pfile

log_archive_dest2='SERVICE=PRD_STANDBY

this is correct ?

There is typo in : *.FAL_CLIENT= PRD_SATNDBY . Please correct it.

About other changes, I've seen that they are already done. Did you check once?

Dear Serhat,

after changing pfile in both system as per your instruction the problem is still same.

standby oraacrh is not receiving any archives from primary database .

when I create the spfile from pfile in standby system the database mount with following message

ora-32006: STANDBY_ARCHIVE_DEST initialization parameter has been deprecated

Assuming that that standby has been setup and configured correctly. If the standby is not receiving logs from the primary check if the listener id running.

Dear Benjamin,

Primary and standby listener id is enable and ping each other.

I am confused that where I configure STANDBY REDO LOG in primary server or standby server.

Hi

Standby logfile should be configured on both side, as they can switch over and exchange their roles.
