VMWARE ESXI / Oracle SAP Support

Hi

I have recomended to implement the below application for our client.

1. SAP ECC 6.0 EHP7
2. SAP BOBJ BI
3. SAP EP System

I have done the hardware sizing for Window 2008 or Window 2012 and Oracle environment. The customer want to use
the virulization VMWARE ESXI (vCentre Licensing) while the SAP Note 0001173954 on VMWare denied
to use the virulization on Oracle 11g.

Please suggest that can I use the VMWARE ESXI virulization or Not for Oracle and SAP ?

hi Basis,

as you found in the SAP Note 1173954, Oracle itself reserves the right to ask for reproduction of a problem which occurs in virtual environments in physical environments. Nevertheless, SAP has a lot of customers running Oracle on Windows and VMware provides a special support statement where VMware engenieers themselves deliver Oracle support in a VMware environment - for details, see http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-27384.

If you want to have 100% sureness to get Oracle support with SAP applications, you could set on Oracle with Hyper-V. On Hyper-V, Oracle gives support in the same way as in a physical environment, see also http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-40885.
