Oracle 11g patch upgrade

Hello All,

We have some query regarding oracle 11.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.4 patch upgrade on Production.

Production environment can you please suggest how we can upgrade Rolling Database on DR side for reducing downtime.

Hi

As you are in 11.2.0.2 you could use out-of-place patching that is available as of that version.

The problem is that SAP only supports it as of 11.2.0.3 as stated in the here under note.

Hi Yuves,

Thanks for your reply.

Our Production environment is configured with oracle data guard (Physical standby) Because if we do normal upgrade process we need to re create the DR system from the backup of the primary system

on standby database the downtime will be increase.

Is there any additional steps for special upgrade with data guard?

You do not need to recreate the standby instead you can apply the offline redologs created during the primary upgrade on the standby database to get it upgraded as well.

we don`t have test system do actually we have raised message with SAP they said it is in under testing start upgrade activity as normal upgrade.

If we go with normal process then need to re-setup the DR also our downtime will be increase.
