One of our biggest customers called and they would like to order 5 items that are "MTS" however won't be placing the order until a week later. We only have 6 avaliable in stock and since it is a very important customer, we would like to ensure that these 5 pieces are available next week for this one customer no matter what.
Our replenishment lead time for this item is more than a month so procuring or producing additional material won't be a solution.
What can we do in SAP to "reserve" these materials so to speak. If we create a standard order, another rush order out there could still steal these based on its ATP scope of check.
Any advise? I know in MTO orders, materials can be linked to a sales order line item, but could something like this be done in a MTS scenario?
Thanks!
Create the order, the 5 should be confirmed as you have 6 in stock.
Then set the "Fixed date & quantity" flag; this will ensure the quantity does not get changed.

Neol, the quantity may not get changed, but...
Let's say someone creates a rush order which uses checking rule B - that is it doesn't check any sales requirement and only checks whether the material is in stock not allocated to another delivery - if such stock exists it confirms and creates a delivery.
The way rush orders are set up as my company, they can technically "steal" orders from other standard orders. So that still may not work.
