Moving inventory of a material to another Material

Hi Gurus,

It will be helpful if any one can answer the below question.

We have a scenario

--> Product ABC (PLANT 1000) = Product CDF (PLANT 1100)

---> Inventory of a Product ABC is in Plant 1000 (DC)

Business wanted production plant to see the inventory before creating the receipt elements. We don't have plant 1000 in APO, we just have 1100 plant in APO.

In DC 1000 PRODUCT   ABC--1000 KG in inventory

In Production Plant 1100 Product CDF has inventory 100 KG--> Actually the total inventory we have 1100 KG

When running Heuristic APO need to consider 1100 KG and generate order for the requirements.

Can any one help me how to map Product ABC = Product CDF so that we can see total inventory in Plant 1100 (Production Plant)?

Please it will be helpful if anyone suggest.

Thanks & Regards,

Rajesh

Hi Rajesh,

In your case, you are trying to map the stock of one material in one location to the another material in another location. Even if you bring 1000 to APO, I am not sure if you can consider the stock of ABC when you plan DEF (product substitution may help here).

After planning, how will you handle the stock from other location to fulfill the demand from other location? For example, if the production plant has 1100 EA of demand, how will you move the stock from 1000 to 1100? are you creating Stock transfer orders or will do material to material posting directly? Could you please elaborate your business process little more detail?

All these said, you may represent the stock of ABC in 1000 as a stock in different storage location in 1100 for the material DEF. That is indirectly, you are representing DC 1000 as a different storage location in 1100.

Hi Mani,

Thanks for your response.

We have a requirement where external DC where we did not take into APO PPDS.

We wanted the inventory of the DC to be shown in production plant (which is in APO)

to read the inventory in DC and project how much it need to product and ship to DC.

Please it be helpful if you suggest

Thanks

Hi Rajesh,

You can send in APO plant 1000 as dummy location with materials, inventory, etc...

Procurement type will be P - External planning. So, you will have integration models for transactional data for SKU (PD) that are planned by ECC.

Then at planning book level you create a macro to copy the inventory from location 1000 to 1100 in a separate key figure. So, you will have 2 separate key figures for inventory. With another macro you have to takes in consideration the two stocks as some. Normally the heuristic will be able to consider this total stock in the planning.

This is just an idea. Thanks.
