Change of Plant Location in Sales order and imapct of order history in APO

Hi All,

We have a business requirement whereby we change the sales order from Plant A to Plant B due to a material availability issue at plant A. However, we want to pull plant A into APO for the sales history via the extract since this is where the original demand was placed. As far as I can tell SAP does not store the original plant anywhere except for the Change Log. which is not useful to us.

I find it hard to believe that this is such an unusual business requirement that would require a development to solve this problem? Does anyone have any input they could offer?

Hi Paul,

In this case you should extract the data before have change the location. You takes a "photo" of the SO. Then in BI (if you extract with BI) you can have a rule that block the update of SO (so it will keep the original location as history). This is just an workaround idea!

Hi Marius,

That is certainly something to think about an a fresh perspective. One of the challenges would be timing. It depends how far after the order is initially created that you change to the second plant. Also, how frequently we would run the sales history extrac load into APO). Definitely worthly for more research.

Hi paul,

ours is a more complicated process, and what we did to acheive was that create programs in ECC to realign the data ( for eg: from plant B to Plant A, from X BU to Y BU etc.

how do you pull the data in to BW from ECC? do you use standard ECC Solution or have some Z TAbles to store the historical data?

we called this program "realignment programs" where the logic would convert those business requirements for forecasting at the right location. and send those changes to Z Tables - where the monthly process would pick from ECC - BW and then to APO.

Normally sales history extract is done as a monthly process and then followed by the forecast run.
