Rename SID process for ECC6 EHP7 in Windows 2008/SQl

Hi ,

I am looking for a step by step process / document to rename SID. I have 2nd DEV system refreshed from QA and upgraded to EHP7 now project decide to rename and make it as QA. I need to rename this system from DV2 to QA2.

Please let me know if someone has done it and can provide any help. I think it will be an automated process through SUM tool.

I need to know the pre and post steps if possible.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Mohammad Farooq

*It's not SUM. It is SWPM

Hi

You have to follow SWPM (Not SUM - SUM used for upgrade)

Hi Raju,

As I mentioned before I am trying to rename SID to make it from DE2 to QA2.

We are running a SAP landscape with ECC6 EHP4 and we are in the process of upgrading the landscape. I have started the upgrade for DE2 that has refreshed from QA2  (EHP4) system. Initially the plan was to make it 2nd DEV system for a project of n+1 landscape  but it was giving issues and due to time constraint and waiting for SAP response we started new system refreshed from DEV and upgraded to EHP7. Now we already upgraded this 2nd DEV and we don't need this system anymore so we decided to rename the SID and QA2 and make it a QA system in that way we don't have to upgrade QA system and will save time.

Now we have N+1 landscape -- DE1 (EHP7) and in process QA2  ( rename DE2 to QA2)

I hope it will clear your confusion.

I just need to know the steps to rename or change the SID through SAP tool and would like to know the pre or post steps in Windows 2008 /SQL env

Thanks

Mohammad
