Heterogenous landscape SAP on SQL

Dear All,

We have a situation where we wanted to use the column store features in SQL2012 in our SAP BI landscape so we planned to upgrade the sql from 2008 to 2012 in our sandbox . Results look promising and we wanted to proceed with this approach to the LIVE systems

Now the questions is will there be any performance impact when the SAP BI is in sql2012 and SAP ERP in Sql 2008 . I understand that heterogeneous landscapes are always possible but wanted to be 100 % sure on this approach . Also please help me understanding any other risks .

Thanks in advance

Regards

Satish

Hi

No impact at all, ERP & BI system could be running on different RDBMS.

The data extraction take place at SAP level, no direct DB access between the systems.

To add to what Yves said (which is absolutely correct), this would still be considered a homogenous landscape, as you are still using the same DBMS, just different releases of it.
