Upgrade of Solution Manager system 7.01

Hi Team,

We are presently running Solution manager 7.01 with Oracle 10.2.0.5 on Windows 2003 Env.we plan to upgrade this to Solution Manager 7.1 with Oracle 11.2.0.4 with Windows 2012.

I would like to know if this would be a Homogenious system copy or Heterogenious system copy if we plan to copy and migrate to new hardware and the upgrade.

Below is the plan schedule what I was thinking

1:Build new system SMP with Windows 2012 & Oracle 11.2.0.4

2:Heterogeneous system copy from old Solution Manager system to newly built Windows 2012 system

3:Perform Pre-Upgrade

4:Downtime-minimized upgrade from SAP Sol Man 7.01 to SAP Sol.Man 7.1 SP10

5:Modification adjustments (SPDD & SPAU)

6:Post-upgrade activities

Regards

Uday

What functions are you using in current solution manager ?

If not much, then go for a fresh installation and setup solution manager+functions on new server.

Hi Uday,

Then go for a fresh install rather than update.

Time and cost will be saved and that you can convey to your client.

However, if upgrade is must, then go for a homogeneous system copy.

NOTE - Check PAM for source and target support 1st.

Just wondering will that be a homogenious or Hetrogenious system copy?As there is no change in DB or OS

Yes Uday,

you are correct it would be homogeneous system copy. As target database still remains Oracle. If you are changing that to different database like db2 or something else than go for heterogeneous system copy

Definitely a Homogenous System copy as the target will stay on same os & db.
