hi

1. Very simply, if you have single instance installed in the system

you can look at the following structure to see the java central

instance number:

/usr/sap/<SID>/JC_<instance-number>

2. btw, USE YOUR HOSTNAME, you should NOT use the sapid-

type #hostname in your prompt, to see the hostname

Hope this helps

Cheers

Hi

I feel derz no need of a tool for finding this information.

This is a standard way of identifying this things.

If looking for that please lemme know.

Hi

For finding the instance name you can use the BRTOOLS. In that you can view the instance name in instance management.

Also you can view the initialization parameter file.

Format of the paramter files are init<SID>.ora or init<SID>.sap

So you can check it from the following files name.

BRTOOLS must be installed at /usr/sap/[SID]/SYs/exe/run or /sapmnt/[SID]/exe

if you do not have this, go get the latest at sapnet

also, you MUST use ora[sid] user to connect to brtools.

I have used MAxDB as a databse.

So I should use sqd<SID>.

Hi

yeh then you need to use the <b>sqd<SID></b> user which has authorizations for the DB.

That will work.

Hey

No need to search it on the Marketplace.

You have installed SAP ABAP, Java then you already got BRTOOLS.

You can view it in the kernel directory. If you dont know the Kernel Directory then go to <b>Transaction AL11</b> there look for the <b>parameter DIR_CT_RUN</b>. This parameter will give you the path for the kernel. In that directory you will be able to see the BRTOOLS, BRCONNECT, BRSPACE, BRRECOVER...etc..

From there you can run the BRTOOLS by double clicking on it.

In AL11 the parameter value would be soemthing like this:

DIR_CT_RUN E:\usr\sap\SND\SYS\exe\uc\NTI386

Hope this helps.

go at http://service.sap.com/patches

go down th tree and you will find BRTOOLS (also called DBATOOLS) in the Oracle sub-folder.
