Hello,
In HA setup for SAP ABAP -
Node 1 - DB
Node 2 - ASCS (ms and en services) and SAP ABAP instance
Node 3 - ERS are running.
I have a doubt if failover of central services happen when lock table overflow occurs?
Thanks,
Subbu
Not sure what you are asking about ...
Imho, no matter what the environment is:
1) A lock table overflow should not, and will not, trigger a failover of the ASCS instance.
2) If a failover is needed for whatever reason, then a lock table overflow should not, and will not, prevent it from happening. (Never tested this myself though.)
hope this helps

Thank you.
I understand Lock table overflow should not happen in any environment.
However, we have a situation that few users unintentionally give some input data which causes this situation.
So, thinking if there is any way to trigger a enqueue failover when Lock table overflow occurs (Which makes sense for me :-))
Thanks,
Subbu
Hi Subbu
Could you refer the SCN link about the HA FAQ it is having clear information

Well, imho forcing a failover whenever lock table is full doesn't make much sense.
It may be a remedy for the symptoms, but it is not a cure for the root cause.
And I'm afraid side effects may be more annoying than the problem itself...
I would rather step up my efforts to find out how to prevent a lock table overflow.
But it's your choice of course.

It does not make sense at all because the main reason for ASCS HA installation is to preserve enqueue service availability and to preserve enqueue table entries during failover operation. In other words after failover enqueue table entries must be the same on failover node as on primary.
Hi Subbu
Is it Windows failover cluster environment?
