Hi experts,
I have very often the situation, that some metrics stay grey (because of different reasons).
But can I get informed about grey metrics?
I didn't find a solution there in SelfMonitoring.
In other words, self monitoring is activated but the grey metrics are not displayed there.
Thank you for any tipps.
How do you handle this?
Thx
So, I did create a now a customer metric (RFC) which checks the following 3 tables.
So you can get which alert is grey.

Hello Roland,
thats helpful, but not 100% what I am looking for.
Does anybody know a technical way to get the information of grey-metrics?
Table, Function Module and so on...
Because I am thinkin about creating a customer metric which monitors this.

Hi Christian,
As far as I know there is no way currently to monitor grey metrics because grey is meant for no data loading and should be alerting on. I guess the main reason is because it could cause Alert Flooding. As you mentioned you can look for Solution manager Self monitoring, where you can define some alerts are missing connections and check if the Diagnostic Agent are up and running etc...
Self-Monitoring of the Monitoring and Alerting Infrastructure - SAP Solution Manager - SAP Library
There is also a report within MAI_TOOLS which can display as list of all the grey metrics which might help.
If you go to tx MAI_TOOLS:
Click on OPEN WEBDYNPRO TOOLS
Open MAI RUNTIME
COMPONENT ANAYLSIS
SELECT MANAGED OBJECT
Select all the technical systems
Click on the check box in the column for SNAPSHOT RELEVANT
Then click on OK
Select the technical system and click on GREY METRICS AND EVENTS
In this way you should be able get the list (no alert) of GREY METRICS for all selected systems.
Please note MAI_TOOLS was created as a tool for us to troubleshoot single grey metrics and not for running reports but as I said it might help.
Kind regards,
Roland
