Impact for adding new feilds in IDOC on SAP PI interfaces.

Hi Experts,

I am working on a issue in which changes are required in a IDOC (Custom) which is integrated to receiver side VIA SAP PI.

Idoc is used by many different SWCV.

If i do the changes in existing IDOC will it impact on the other mapping.

If yes what is the alternative for adding the new requirement in IDOC.

If No then why it is not impacting.

Experts please advice.

Regards,

Mohit Dua

Hi Mohit,

Yes it will impact provided if you are discturbing the fields which are bieng used in existing mappings.

Best way to do handle is to create new idoc ,i.e newcustommessagetypename.oldbasictypename.

Hi Mohit,

Suggestion would be to create a new custom IDOC and use it for the perticular interface where change is required so that other interfaces would not get affected.

Hi,

If you are using same IDOC in 2 scenarios, if you are changing the structure of one idoc it will affect the another one as well. So anyhow you are using custom idoc only so create anothe custome idoc with required changes and create the scenario with SAP PI.

I suppose if the idoc is being used in many other places then changing the structure will impact others.

You can make a new custom idoc structure for your requirement.
