Dear All,
I just finished fresh install of Content Server 6.5 and DB recovery.
CS DB online
Content Server URL link tested , server running.
But i cannot make my content repository online
when i click on "lock" button, it turn to "defined"
when i click on "unlock" button, it turn to "offline"..
I tried to create a new repository ...also the same...tried restart CS server..DB e.t.c...not help either..
Anyone can give some advise?
Many thanks!
Regards
Gary
Hi experts,
I had same issue after system migration project.
as like you, NT was upgraded from 2003 to 20008
and MAX DB was from 7.6 to 7.9
Accidentally, I resolved the issue (offline status , even if they are working..)
though re-assign repository with other ODBC driver in CSADMIN.
I think that old version ODBC driver(like Live cache, sdbodbcw.dll) is not proper to new version.
you can show ODBC driver list with below command. (in \<MAXDB_DIR>\<SID>\db\pgm)
: odbcreg - g
you have to make new version ODBC driver like below.
: odbcreg -i <DRIVER_NAME> -p <DLL_PATH> -d <DLL_NAME>
(e.g. > odbcreg -i DMS -p C:\sapdb\SDB\db\pgm\ -d sqlod32w.dll )
Setting tap in Repository you want to modify (CSADMIN)
remove Content REP. and re-create with new ODBC driver you made.
I'm not good at ENGLISH but, I want to help you with this solv.
Thanks
Paul Kim.

Hi Guys
I am facing similar issue.
Working on migration MaxDB and SAP CS from Win2003 - > Win 2008
new: MaxDB 7.9.08.36 + SAP CS 6.5
old: MaxDB 7.5.00.32 + SAP CS 6.3
Migration done and recovery/restore as well without any major issues.
SAP CS configured as well, xuser managed, IIS persmissions set, odbcdriver registred , connection and certificates working fine.
Even repositor in OAC0 is running fine but after restart of service or DB / server repositor change the status to defined and I have to start it manually.
Any clue idea about it? I already open SAP CALL message so we will see.
thanks for any advice/hint.
BR
Daniel

I think it is a bug.
Despite the status show "offline", the repository is still working and assesible.
You can test it.
Finally we just ignored it.
(already try to try to redo the procedure and also checked requirement with reference to SAP notes)

Hi Gary,
You can restore backup of MaxDB 7.6 into MaxDB 7.9 .
Did you check the KB
1014782 - FAQ: SAP MaxDB system copy
129352 - Homogeneous system copy with SAP MaxDB
Did you follow this steps in order to create a backup?
Source system:
Create a complete system backup:
Target system:
Target system: Software
If you are rebuilding the system from scratch (in other words, there is no software installed), use R3INST, R3Setup, or SAPInst to import the SAP instance software and the database software. After you have done this, you can terminate the installation program (if supported).
Target system: Restore
Before the restore, you must initialize the target database. This initialization formats the log area. Data volumes are only formatted, if they are not configured as raw devices and are not available in the configured size.
Check it out

Hi Gary,
It is posible that the restore is not complete? The defined state is explained at help.sap.com:
Details - SAP Content Server - SAP Library
check if there are errors at log file :more data/wrk/SDB/knldiag.err
May you attach the following files? KnlDiag , KnlMsg .
Cheers
I just further verify the issue.
The problem appear only AFTER I restore the content server DB from source system.
The content repository can be created via OAC0 and set to 'online' using the new DB created with SWPM. (before I restore my DB)
So, the problem is the restored DB.
However, the restore process was succeed without any error show.
Is below version valid?
my scenario:
MaxDB 7.6 --> backup using MaxDB studio
Restore DB to MaxDB 7.9 also using MaxDB studio.
ERP system remain no changes.
Thanks.

Hi Gary,
In content server administration , content repository status will appear as running or defined until integrated server is active. Its indicate that you did connections perfectly with external server.
Make it content server(external) shut down and test it you may get the difference at OAC0.

chandu.
