Former Member
0 Kudos

Hi,

I got new error during the Solman upgrade sp12 from 10.

The execution phase, DEPLOY-JAVACORE error.

I checked logs and I found that java kernel doesn't exist in Shadow instance 03.

Question.

Can I copy java kernel and modify some property files?

Dev_Jcontrol log in work folder of shadow instance 03

Lists files and dir in the shadow folder

Regards.

Hi Jerry,

what is version of software update manager? Please us newest : SUM 1.0 SP11 PL5

What java-related directories do you find under /usr/sap/SM3/SUM/?

Is your SUM-tool under this path located?

In my system I have:

/usr/sap/<SID>/SUM/jvm and

/usr/sap/<SID>/SUM/sdt

Kind regards,

Christoph

Hi Christoph,

SUM is 1.0 SP11 PL5

I have both folder jvm and sdt in SUM folder,

Do you have j2ee and SDM folder under the DV*## (Shadow instance)?

Regards.

Sorry, i have not longer the shadow instance after finish the Update from SP10->12.

But I was wundering, that there is not longer a j2ee directory under SUM with newest version.

Other option:

Did you reuse the SUM-folder for SP10->12 after you used it already for SPxx->10?

Hi Jerry

The file 'DEPLOY-JAVACORE_11.LOG' thrown below Error:

Adeel,

Thank you for your reply unfortunately, it is not an our case.

I did extend time what note 1931355 recommended, but same error.

The log said that SDM login credential is invalid abd gave me note 701654.

I changed SDM password in configutool and in command level with sdm.sh but same error.

OperateSDM_80.LOG

Hi Jerry

-Did you change the administrator user's password in the user store ?
-Did you Update the entry in secure storage in the file system ?

Once above is done then I would recommend to Restart the J2ee cluster/ SDM server.

Thanks

Software Update Manager (SUM):

a) Stop SUM tool and make sure there are no leftover processes

b) Set com.sap.sdt.severity to DEBUG in:
    -SUM\sdt\param\logging.properties
    -SUM\sdt\prop\logging.properties
    -SUM\java\param\logging.properties

Reproduce your issue again

Find the Error.zip file in -\usr\sap\<SAPSID>\SUM directory and find out the information written in Trouble ticket and the information written in the pointing/corresponding file.

This should give more detail information.

Adeel,

I appreciate your reply and I did what you were recommended but I got same error.

I attached ErrorReport.Zip file here. (I put .txt because upload format, you can simply remove .txt)

Hi Jerry

I would suggest to re-install your Service Pack .SCA for core java components and core components first.

SAPJEE
SAPJEECOR
SAPJTECHS
SAPJTECHF

Use SDM server standalone mode in the following way:

- In the /usr/sap/<SID>/<instance>/SDM/program folder run the
StopServer.bat in order to shutdown the SDM server.

- Please run sdm in standalone mode sdm jstartup
"mode=standalone".

- Deploy your SDAs executing sdm.sdm deploy "file=<filename>"
"updateVersions=all".

- After you have deployed your SDAs reattach the SDM in integrated
mode sdm jstartup "mode=integrated".

- Restart the SDM server running the StartServer.

Please install the patches of the core components right after finishing the installation of Service Pack.

Try to restart the upgrade again by using SUM.

Thanks

Hi,

Which version you are talking to? Old version is 7.21 201 New version is 7.21 300

Actually I don't understand 100%

Could you explain me more detail?

As my understanding,

Change standard mode to SDM

and Import SP of JEE, JEECOR, JTECHS and JTECHF using SDM?

Do not understand this part

Please let me know.

Regards.

Hi Jerry

I think the issue here is SDM tried to start applications which cannot be due to the state of
the java engine. During the installation process, JAVA engine changes to safe mode, in which only
one server node can be started and applications are not starting.

I would suggest to re-install below relevant java components version (SCA) first and then
start the upgrade again using the SUM afterwards:

SAPJEE*.SCA
SAPJEECOR*.SCA
SAPJTECHS*.SCA
SAPJTECHF*.SCA

Thanks and Regards

Adeel,

I did redeploy what you were recommended.

When I did JTECHS deploy. I got error in command level "Return code 4"

And I tried with remotegui, got error

This remotegui error as same as SUM error.

If you have better idea?

Hi Jerry

With regards to the error in first picture: "Processing error. Return code: 4"

Please refer to below SAP Notes: 1686045, 873769 and 905856.

For Remote GUI error: Please refer to SAP Note:701654

Hi Jerry,

Reset the SDM password same as J2EE_ADMIN.

./StopServer.sh

./sdm.sh jstartup "mode=standalone"

./sdm.sh changepassword "newpassword=enter the password same as j2ee_admin"

./sdm.sh jstartup "mode=integrated"

./StartServer.sh

Also update the same password in secure storage of configtool.

admin/password/<sid> = same password which you maintained in SDM as save it

Introduction to the Configtool, JVM parameters and the Secure Store - Technology Troubleshooting Gui...

Restart the solman and apply the patches.

Hi Jerry

Could you please try another option for upgrading the SP via referring to the below note:

SAP Note: 1715441 - How to deploy .SCA/ .SDA/ .EAR/ .WAR files on J2EE servers on NetWeaver release 7.1 and higher

Be careful with the component dependencies or else it may cause inconsistencies.

Adeel,

I really appreciate your help.

I did manually deploy with JSPM and patch SDM but same error.

Even I tried new SDM install, but I got new error and many other errors during the deploy.

Important things, SUM does not recognize whole processes with new SDM. (May I need new run SUM, but it already downtime I can't rollback at this time)

Hi Jerry

Could you please inform which components you currently have installed and which components are you trying to upgrade.

Send/Attach the below files when the issue Reproduced and also send the screen shot if possible.

If SUM used then provide the error.zip file which is automatically created.

If JSPM used then provide the information from the below log file:

-\usr\sap\<systemname>\<instance name>\j2ee\JSPM\log

Which version of NetWeaver AS Java is being used?

What version of SUM are you using ?

You are upgrading the Solution manager from service pack from 10 to service pack 12 ?

Which Solution manager version you are using ?

Thanks

Hi Jerry

I have tried to open the file attached but couldn't open due to some error. Please attach the required files again so I can check the logs again.

SAP_JTECHS is important to be deployed because it is a  core component.

Adeel,

It can't upload over 1Gbyte so I made three zip files

You can unzip in same folder

Hi Jerry,

Copy the j2ee directory to the shadow instance DVEBMGS03 from your actual instance.

You can check it by copying the file.

It is not clear why SUM has not created the j2ee folder in dialog instance.

Please check the file /usr/sap/SM3/DVEBMGS03/templateconfigurator.properties after copy for right Java_HOME - directory and INSTANCE_ID for shadow instance.

Christoph
