Good day all,
My company current uses CAPEX IM structures with WBS's as follows:
Capex
IM Level 1
IM Level 2
IM Level 3
IM Level 4
IM Level 5
WBS
We want to introduce OPEX WBS's to effectively control and govern spend on the OPEX budget.
What would be the best way to create an Opex Structure? Can i create a similar structure for Opex as Capex or must they share a structure?
Would i settle the WBS PO's to the Cost Centre?
a little guidance and few examples would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Werner,
It depends on the requirement, if a job (IM Level ) has both CAPEX and OPEX.
Project - X
WBS - XY
- XY - 1
- XY - 2 (If this phase i have both Capex and Opex)
- XY - 2 - 1 (Capex)
- XY - 2 - 2 (Opex)
I can assign like this. Else if you do not have a requirement, say the client prefer to calculate the OPEX cost separately, then you need to have a different OPEX structure similar to CAPEX structure.
Either way its going to update the cost involved, but the flow will be different.

Terence

HI Werner
You have create the top structure, that's Project Definition.
You need to create position from transaction IM11, which will form a tree structure under Initial structure.
I am still confused how you created the IM Structure for CAPEX ?
Can you attach the screenshot for the same ?
Regards
Terence
Here is an example of the current CAPEX IM structure
1 CAPEX
2 ZA001
3 ZA00102
4 ZA0010202
5 ZA0010202.05
6 ZA0010202.05.02
The WBS is then obviously linked to level 6.
I have manged to create an Opex WBS. But i want the Opex WBS on its OWN structure. i do not want to create it on the Capex IM structure.
And this is what i need assistance with. Creating the OPEX WBS structure. What do i use for this?
Hi Werner,
There is an option for user fields in Investment Management.
1. You can also use these fields to differentiate capex or opex, in case if you want it in investment management.
2. Additionally a custom table with drop down - CAPEX or OPEX, assign to one of the user fields...consult with your ABAP
3. You can also use user status to differentiate, in case there is no user status setup already done.
Regards
Terence
