HI

We have CUA configured in Solution Manager .We are planning to upgrade solution manager to the latest patch available .

During downtime of solution manager How do we manage the CUA and user management activity in child systems .

Please advise.

Hi,

Option 1: Move the CUA Master to another system & then move back when complete

Option 2: Remove child systems from CUA, perform admin manually for period of patching, re-connect when patching complete.

Which option you choose depends on how much admin overhead that CUA saves 'vs' effort of doing it.

Cheers

Hi Alex

Is it possible to detach CUA during downtime and reattach it .

If so , do we need to need to attach all child systems manually .

Can you clarify how to move CUA master to other system .

You can detach / de-link the child system before an upgrade or other such activities and link it back once completed.

Use the report RSDELCUA

After reconnecting you would need to transfer all the users back to the CUA.

Remember to have the CUA / Sol Manager at a higher version than the child systems.

When you de-link the CUA, you can administer the child systems individually.

Good Luck.

Hello Balamarugan,

Here is a helpful report for CUA management:  RSDELCUA .

Best regards,

SAP Note 801877 explain the working of the report RSDELCUA to temporary disable CUA on a child system. That may help

Hi

Can we proceed  with Processing phase with CUA enabled and during the start of downtime, can we execute the report  to detach CUA.

Will there be any impact for CUA when preprocessing phase is in progress?

General recommendation is that other activity stops during preproc stage.  If in doubt (I assume this isn't a "test" upgrade) then decouple before that starts.
