APO Upgrade with inactive Objects

Hello World,

We got successfully through our SCM/APO Upgrade (to EHP3 FOR SAP SCM 7.0), but now an issue has arisen with certain inactive DB objects.

As it seems, our previous admin was very, very busy implementing SAP notes, but he didn't always pay proper attention if they were applicable.

Thus when SNOTE got stuck right in the middle, he seldom "undid" the notes.

Now even so SUM didn't complain about this, our developers claim that objects relating to these notes are now in a peculiar state "between the worlds".

They tell me those objects are now stored as "inactive" (or not created at all), even so they do not show in in SE80 as such.

Their DDIC definitions exist, but not the object in the database.

Also, none of the offending notes is still listed in SNOTE.

As a result, they don't know how to find out what objects are inactive/need activation, and have to play "hunt the wumpus" after every short dump (need I explain they don't like the wumpus very much?).

Now what I need is a way to list all these inactive/not created objects from the upgrade.

SUM didn't display anything about these **** in its last status report, so I don't know how to find them out either (as indeed SE80->Environment->Inactive Objects doesn't list a thing).

Anybody got any ideas on this one?

Thx in advance for any help.

Hi,

One possible option is to try an deimplement and reimplement the

associated SAP Note.

You can apply SAP Note 1557768 and use report SCWB_FIND_NOTES_FOR_OBJECT

to find the SAP Note that is associated to the object.

Please see if SAP note 1131831 could be helpful.

Problem is that SNOTE doesn't list the notes anymore.

We still have the original system available, but it would still be a lot of manual labor for that approach.

Isn't there a simple report one can run to list all DDIC objects w/o valid DB objects?

Hi,

With report RUTMSJOB you can do a mass check for dictionary objects.

When logging on with user DDIC you have a button for repairing the

errors in result list.

After it's finished, click the "Results" button to show compare result,

then you can click menu->Edit->Correct Errors in the result screen by

user DDIC to fix the inconsistencies

In addition to what Aidan suggested you can also use the report RUTCHKNT to check the inconsistency. For more information check the note

608738 - Checking the inactive nametab using RUTCHKNT

Thanks, your report is the most informative.

The other one mentioned by  Benjamin is also useful, but it takes a lot longer to compile its list and its all in one big output.

Now I can see about 280 objects that were not activated, and it even says what part of the package should be activated to make the program/transaction work.

But, its a long list for manual activation.

So I will now try to run it under DDIC and use the repair option.

Thx for your suggestion Benjamin, but I needed the added feature of "auto-fixing" from Aidan's report to make our developers happy.

I still keep your report in my notes, just in case.

Am at home now, but I'll try all your suggestions 2morrow.

I'll let u folks know how it turned out.

Thx already for the quick reply - as usual much faster than SAP's own support "coldline"
