Hello Sithambaram,

1) Please provide more information:

-> Are you going to do Homogeneous or Heterogeneous System Copy?

-> What are the OS of the source & target servers?

< please provide this information for the liveCache servers too.>

-> What are the liveCache version & SCM SP on your system?

Please take a look in the SAP notes:

886103 System Landscape Copy for SAP SCM

210564 Copying a complete APO system

For the Homogenous liveCache copy please follow the SAP notes:

877203 Post steps after the Homogenous liveCache copy using

457425 Homogenous liveCache copy using backup/restore

Please see the SAP note for Heterogeneous liveCache copy procedure :

632357 Backing up liveCache data for SCM 4.0

2) Information about the steps to rename the existing live cache to

a different name, example LC1 to LC4, could be found in the SAP note:

604680 Renaming a SAP DB or liveCache instance

Hi Natalia,

I want to make it unique, because it's a different machine and sdbap2 already exist in another system.

Initially SCM copy was done from machine A to B, but the SID (DB & LC) was not renamed. So we used same userid (sdbap2) in machine B.

Now since I'm doing the copy again, and wish to rename the back to what it should be (sdbap1).

Thanks & Best Regards,

Naren

Hi Natalia,

Would the permission of the directory will be automatically adjusted (/sapdb)?

Currently :- sdbap2 sdba

and will be changed to sdbap1 ?

Thanks,

Hello Naren,

Now you would like to know the steps to rename the owner of the database. It's another question. Please post this question as the new one to the forum MAXDB/liveCache!!

As I understood on the target liveCache server you installed the liveCache instance with owner sdbap2 ( group sdba ). Please review the file /etc/opt/sdb. The permission & ownership of the database software should be NOT ( !!! ) changed manually, it will be set correctly by the database installation or upgrade tools.

The user sdbap2 is locked, and if you would like to administrate the liveCache at Unix level you need user in the group sdba.

-> Why do you need to change the name of the liveCache owner user?

****

If you are the official SAP customer, I recommend you to create the ticket to SAP on 'BC-DB-LVC' queue.

Hi Natalia,

Yes I did.

1-So when I rename the SID, the existing datafiles contents will also be renamed right?

2- If the datafiles or log files of the source and target are in different sizes, would the renaming process take care of it or I have to synch the size?

If I have to synch the size, how can I do that?

Thanks,

Naren

Hello Naren,

1. Please see the steps of the note 604680.

If you will rename the database liveCache instance name, the content of the datavolumes will be not changed.

2. The rename of the database liveCache instance name will not change the size of the data & log volumes.

When you are running the Homogenous liveCache & follow the SAP notes 457425 and 877203 please check that the target liveCache instance has the same value of the _UNICODE parameter as source liveCache & be sure that in the source liveCache you configured the data volume aria big enough to be able to restore the backup from the source liveCache.

If you would like to have the same configuration of the data & log volumes as in the source liveCache, you could recreate the liveCache instance for the restore using the DBMGUI with using current parameters, next adjust parameters _UNICODE, MAXLOGVOLUMES, MAXDATAVOLUMES, and when will be at the step to check the settings for the data and log volumes => change the configuration for the data & log volumes...

Hi Natalia,

I'm doing the SCM copy, but for the oracle side I have already completed the copy. So now the only thing left is the Live Cache copy and restore.

Thanks & Best Regards,

Hello Naren,

As I wrote you before, if you going to do the SCM system copy => please do it in sync, as it's recommended in the SAP note::

886103 System Landscape Copy for SAP SCM

-> Did you create the liveCache backup of the source liveCache instance at the

time when you created the backup of the oracle database or the complete

system copy?

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

Hi Natalia,

-> I'm going to do a Homogeneous copy

-> AIX 5 (source & target the same)

-> SCM 4.1, KERNEL 7.5.0 BUILD 035-123-123-944

-> SAPKY41010

->Database Oracle 9.2

I wish to do 2 things:-

1)rename the SID of the curent live cache from LC3 to LC1

2)Then restore full backup of another live cache LC2 to LC1

Let me know if there is a better way to do it

Thanks,

Naren

Hello Sithambaram,

1)rename the SID of the current live cache from LC3 to LC1

-> Please see the SAP note 604680.

2)Then restore full backup of another live cache LC2 to LC1

-> For the Homogenous liveCache copy you could follow the SAP notes

457425 and 877203

-> Are you going to do the SCM system copy or only the Homogenous

liveCache copy?

Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina
