Context change

Hi experts,


I have seen  few interfaces where context ie field has been changed or shifted to node

EX : partner_q of E1ADRM1 to E1EDL20

why do we need to do this

when do we need to do this, I mean how will I know I have to shift the context to node

please suggest

Because you can develop mappings easier.

There no a straight answer for this. First of you should to have clear what is a context, Sirnu gives you a good example, a tag has so many contexts as tags are its fathers.

Sometimes it is useful to have a queue with all the values belonging at the same context, for example:

World > Continent >  Country > Region > Population (end tag)

If you want to map the population in the nex output World > Continent >  Country > Population (end tag), you would need to sum all the population by region, but it is easier to sum directly all the population by country.

It's been a while, isn't it? Thanks for mentioning my blog. Indeed I hope it does give a nice jumpstart into the queues and contexts concepts of PI mappings
