Hi Team,

Could you please explain me the difference between Multiplex server and single server.

I also read that we can register only one database to IQ server.

Initially, post installation I have created a demo database and registered it to IQ server. So does this mean that I will not be able to to create a new database in SCC and subsequent database objects under it.

Thanks & Regards,

Vijay

Hi Vijay,
Explanation on what is the difference between multiplex and simplex can be found in a number of locations -
1. Documentation (http://help.sap.com/iq1608/)
Administration: Multiplex
The very first chapter on Multiplex Overview will explain it all
2. SAP IQ Video Library (http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-43300)
a. How to Create a Multiplex Solution in SAP Sybase IQ 15.4
b. Converting an IQ 16.0 Database to Multiplex with SCC
c. Monitor an IQ 16.0 MPX or Node with Sybase Control Center (SCC)

But, in summary simplex is One IQ server pointing to one source (iq store) , whereas in a multiplex environment you have mutliple IQ servers pointing to the same data source (IQ store).
You can register as many unique IQ servers you want to administer/monitor in an SCC server.
At the above location for IQ videos we also have links to SCC videos that will help in answering your questions on SCC.
