Installing fonts is one of the operating system administrator's tasks.

It is not an SAP question.

So let me suggest you ask your OS admin for help.

And no, upgrading the IGS will not solve your problem.

Hello All,

I checked in igs folder and found that the FONT folder was missing and so i replaced the igs folder with the patches from igs helper. Now i think in order to bring these changes i need to restart the igs but i do not want to restart the SAP system.

I tried this command but its not executing, anyone know how i can restart the igs then or any other suggestions?

cd /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS00/igs¬

./bin/startigs -p .

Hello SS,

Thanks for the reply. I just and found that these strange characters are not showing everywhere. It might be possible to be development problem?? If i take a look in different tab it is showing the same character with different symbol.

What you suggest then?

Hi Mohit,

Update fonts on IGS server and take a restart to rebuilt the page correctly.

Also, if in your case, the page is building at the client side, then you need to install the fonts on the frontend machine.

Hello Divyanshu,

Thanks for the message!

I have updated the folder with latest patches on the path /SID/SYS/profile/DVEBMGS16/igs

and taken the restart.

But it is still showing the error.

For: the page is building at the client side, then you need to install the fonts on the frontend machine.

This is a HR system and portal is used for team calendar to mark attendance, so they use the portal in the network, then where else i have to implement this font then?

Hi Mohit,

What is the language in which you want to use these characters ?

Read these note and see the configuration file can help you in fixing this.

596825 - GFWCHART configuration file

1028690 - True Type Fonts delivered with IGS

Thank you Divyanshu for the SAP notes but i have already checked these notes.

The language used is German and in SAP note the font provided was for Japanese and chines.

Special characters in german: ö, Ä, é, or ß.. These are the special characters that we have in german language.

As i said earlier somewhere it is showing okay and in some place the  Ä or other special character is coming with strange symbol. Check image above.

Then update your IGS and try again.

I have already updated the igs folder. If you mean to update the igs exe and all then i have to restart the system. and updating the IGS will guarantee bring the change because  the problem is not coming in all the tabs..

If it will bring the change then i will ask for the downtime and if its just a trail then i have to check other things before as i can not ask for the downtime again until i get the root cause.

I hope you are understanding.

Yes, I understand the process and changes involved .

BTW, Did the update took place in all exe directories ?

Have you tried updating the trace level to 2 ? For eg, as shown in below note:

1011372 - BWGIS configuration file

Hi Mohit

During the kernel upgrade you may require to upgrade the IGS. for this you have to download the IGSEXE_Verison.SAR

and also refer the SAP Note 995471 - IGS administration via ABAP - to check the IGS version details
