Fiori technical roles and catalog

Hi Masa,

             During the Fiori application configuration, we have the below queries:

1. Are we using techinical catalog during the app setup ?

2. How do we get the business catalog  roles ?Is it by assigning the business roles to the user ?

3.Does the end user/LP user requires technical role ?

We have referred the link: Setup of Catalogs, Groups, and Roles in the SAP Fiori Launchpad - SAP Fiori for SAP Business Suite -...  and got all the above queries.

Hi Srikanth,

User can search tiles from catalog if the user has technical catalog role.

Both Business role(Group) and Technical Role(Catalog) are documented in each app help.

Hi Masa,

            We have gone through the link you provided, but During Fiori app configuration setup will we require below:

1.What is the difference between Techinical Catalog and Business Catalog, can you please explain with respect to LPD ?

2. Where are we using technical catalog (for ex: SAP_MM_TC_T_X1) during the app setup ?

3. What is the use of the business role (for ex: SAP_MM_BCR_Buyer_X1)?

Hi Srikanth,

Please share your findings.

Users see tiles as default if business roles are assigned.

Users can search tiles from catalog and add to the lauchpad if technical roles are assigned.

Hi Masa,

            As per my understanding if a user is assigned with the BCR role (for example:SAP_MM_BCR_Buyer_X1) then the respective Business Catalogs and Business Catalog Groups gets added to the LPD.

Please correct our above understanding.

Query2: How does Technical Catalogs(for example SAP_HCM_TC_T_X1 ) appear on LPD ?Is it added when the respective UI add-on(UIX01HCM) is installed on the gateway system ?

Hi Srikanth,

LPD_CUST entries were created by app UI installation.

Assigning roles never creates entries in the LPD_CUST.

Could you share business requirements? Do you want to disable for searching tiles from catalog?
