MDM portal connection

Hi all,

I have installed portal and deployed mdm content of portal on it successfully.

Now in System Adm> system config> i hv selected MDM system template and have specified system id , system Name ,company name and description .Also i have provided the MDM Server as INFPWXXXX(the host name of MDM server) and

pwd as Oracle pwd of MDM.....

but i get "failed to conncet teh MDM system ...system may be down "as ERROR

Thanks for u reply..

Now i hv made a host file entry...still after creating the system from the template...i m unable to connect to my MDM System....i hv exactly followed the steps that i had mentioned in the first question....

Iit wud be really very helpful if sombdy coud throw light on this.

Ok Ashwin,

What i have understood is your MDM server is a remote one, So while creating a MDM system for it in portal give the host name of your mdm server and leave password blank as password is not a madetory field.

Hope this will solve your issue

Hi Ashwin ,

check your host file entry. If your MDM server is different than your Portal server then u must do a host file entry on portal system .

Let me know the status after the host file entry.

Hi Ashwin,

Kindly try MDM server as <u>localhost</u> and password as <u>blank</u> [No chars].. if this doesn't work we will work on further workaround.

You should NOT give the password of the Database.

You have to create a user in MDM with Admin rights.

You have to use this user in User Mapping in Portal.

Steps in Configuration:

Create a System

Assign a System Alias to the system

Do the user mapping for the alias in Portal

Test the connection to MDM in Portal for the System Object.

If the configurations are correct, you should get a successful connection message.
