Header table and segment table.

Hello Experts,

Being new to CRM dev. I observed there are two types of tables exist header and segment (body table).

Please can explain what is the difference between these and what is the propose of such approach , As in R/3 i dint find this approach.

But i am-looking from database.table prospective .

Like some table have description Header table for _____.

So wanted to know know the difference between this type of approach of making header tables
