Hi folks,
we want to upgrade an ERP6 EHP5 (Kernel 7.21 EXT) to ERP6 EHP7 (Kernel 7.41). Should we do the Kernel Upgrade before the EHP upgrade or is this irrelevant for the upgrade process?
is there a recommendation?
Kind regards,
Tobias Prein
Hello,
Please use SUM tool to perform the upgrade.
Are you generating an XML file for the same?
If not I would recommend you to generate it.
The XML file ensure all the packages are included in addition to the dependencies.
And the Kernel Switch will also happen automatically.
You might have to setup SSFS connectivity as well.
Let me know in case of any clarifications required.
Thanks

If you are doing an EHP update then you need to supply the stack file which should have the target version kernel. The kernel should be put in the downloads directory with the other packages. The shadow will be created with the target version kernel. There is no need to do a kernel upgrade before you start the EHP update. If you were planning to update the kernel on the EHP5 system with kernel 741 release then this will not help as kernel 741 is not supported with EHP5 systems.

Hi Tobias,
during the EHP Installation process you have to provide some media. One of the media which have to be provided is the kernel media. This should be the target release kernel (741).
So you do not have to upgrade your kernel to 741 before.
Cheers,
Andreas
