PA20 Authorisation Question

Former Member

Dear Experts

I am quite new to SAP and authorisations.

I have created a HR authorisation role to give display access to certain infotypes only. I have added P_ORGIN and assigned the infotypes required and the authorisation values (AUTHC) of M and R. I have also given the role access to transaction PA20.

When I test the role it is failing authorisation tests because it requires access authorisation (AUTHC) of D, E, S & W, which I belive are modify rights. Can anyone explain why the display transaction PA20 is wanting modify access to the ITs instead of just display?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi,

PA20 transaction is to Display only. we can't modify any master data through PA20.

I understand that PA20 is to display on, and that is why I am confused that it is asking for authorisation to modify!

When trying to view some infotypes it would not display them until modify access was granted,

Hi Justin,

First of all, may I ask if the access to the Infotypes on display mode works without any problems?

Please check it, and when you do please refer to the following points:

  • View an Infotype record
  • Overview of all Infotype Records
  • View locked/unlocked records

If all the above works as expected, you may not need to change your authorizations.

Regards,

Liran
