Field to update substitute items in material master.

Hi Team,

Is there any option in material master to update the list of substitute items for information only.  Based on the same, we can create a custom query to run the report list all the substitute items for a material.

you create a characteristic "submaterial" and allow multiple value assignment

you create a class in CL03, for class type 001 and assign the characteristic to it.

you maintain your material master classification view and add the class.

and here you add all your material numbers for submaterials to the characteristic

Hi,

   I wont suggest the material PO text since it may have effect on PO and it can be used for maintaining the actual PO text.

   You may maintain the list in the material master - Additional data tab. Here, you have different text tabs like "basic data text" , "inspection text", internal comment etc.

   You can maintain the list here for information purpose. Create a custom report using the FM: READ_TEXT to get the text maintained against the text ID.

List of substitute items.. It means there would be many items.

Instead of Material PO text, you can't write more than some.

You can write the sub items in material master.

MM02 - Purchase Order Text tab.

If you will be going to use a custom (Z report) query, then you can pull the text from material master to your report.

In standard, you can also prepare a report for this text by using the document

Hi Dev,

    The report RSTXTC3 will give only the first line and wont give the different lines if you maintain the items in different lines in the text, as of my knowledge. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Could you please run the report for the above material and check how the report display the values?

Yes. In initial screen, you will find the value only for first line. But you can see other line by clicking the display text.
