Question about including HR Renewal in a EhP7 update

Good afternoon - We are planning to update to EhP7 (currently on EhP6). This will mostly be a technical update, but we would like to be positioned to activate HR Renewal components at a later date. If we include the HR Renewal add-on into the EhP7 update, will the classic HR functions continue to look and feel as they do today, with any HR Renewal changes needing to be activated in the Switch Framework?

Thanks for your help!

Regards,

Blair Towe

Hi Blair,

HR Renewal 1.0 was introduced as an add-on on top of EhP6.

With EhP7, all content of HR Renewal 1.0 has become part of EhP7 (the add-on has been retrofitted into the standard EhP).

HR Renewal 2.0 is again the next version of the HR Renewal add-ons, which works on top of EhP7.

For more technical information, please check out the
technical Release Information Notes:

- HR Renewal 1.0: 1701634

- HR Renewal 2.0: 1965692

Also refer to information in the Administrator Guides for HR
Renewal 1.0 and 2.0 and EhP7 (to be found at http://help.sap.com/hr_renewal and
the respective EHP folder)

HR Renewal contains new UIs for

- HR Professionals (including new HCM P&F form types),

- ESS,

- MSS

- SAP Learning Solution

- payroll control center

- etc.

However, existing functionality from prior releases remains unchanged.

Kind regards,

  Simone.

Hey Blair,

Yes, you can do exactly what you are saying. You can include the HR Renewal add-on into the EhP7 update, and the classic HR functions continue to look and feel as they do today.

No need to mess with the switch framework for what you are suggesting.

Hi Blair,

i can commit, that upgrading to EHP7 is not a problem for existing ESS/MSS solutions. As you going to plan, we upgraded our system first to EHP7 (and Basis to 7.4) and then we provided a new MSS based on HR Renewal FP4.

As you correctly mentioned, the first step in your HR-Renewal project is activating specific business functions via switch framework. And even then, existing ESS/MSS scenarios will still working. You only have to be careful, when you customize things like e.g absences for your HR Renewal solution. Such comprehensive issues will of course effect all HR applications.
