Hi Experts,

During Portal Production upgrade, configuration phase, we are getting

below error msg, when logged in to the Central Instance physical host.

"The following problem has occurred during step execution:

com.sap.sdt.util.diag.DiagException: Could not display dialog

UserPasswords.

Could not execute dialog UserPasswords. See previous messages.Error

while

trying to validate Administrator password.Possible reason: the J2EE

engine

is not started.Error while trying to get initial context.

com.sap.engine.services.jndi.persistent.exceptions.NamingException:

Exception while trying to get InitialContext." Cannot open connection on host:10.100.2.24 and port 50004, where 10.100.2.24 is the physical host IP.

Production System is on SUSE Linux Cluster with primary and failover nodes

with single virtual hostname. Portal CI, SCS & DB Instances are using this virtual hostname(hercules).

As per SAP note: 2044981,

sapcontrol -nr 00 -function GetSystemInstanceList shows:

hercules, 0, 50013, 0, 3, J2EE|IGS, GREEN

hercules, 1, 50113, 0, 1, MESSAGESERVER|ENQUE, GREEN and

sapcontrol -nr 01 -function GetSystemInstanceList shows:

hercules, 0, 50013, 0, 3, J2EE|IGS, GREEN

hercules, 1, 50113, 0, 1, MESSAGESERVER|ENQUE, GREEN

Kindly help to sort out this issue.

Thanks & Best Rgds,

Hi,

Issue has been sorted out after running SUM using XManager instead of VNCviewer.

I am continuing with the upgrade Preparation Activities..

Thanks & Best Rgds,

Kiran Sathyan.

Instead of using VNC or some XWindows why don't you access the SUM tool from a browser ?

You just need to start the SUM tool in the background using the STARTUP script and then access the tool from a browser using the link http://hostname:4239

Hi Divyanshu and Reagan,

Thank you for the information,

As per  note 1726902, I have set physical hostname  as well to

connect to P4 Port and system has been restarted and P4 Port is accessible in

both physical and virtual host.

However, when I restarted the System and tried to run SUM, I've got

"could not obtain version info from start service SUM" while providing sidadm

user credentials:

After checking SAP Note: 1401712 - JSPM/SAPJup/SAPehpi/SUM cannot

detect all cluster instances & 1600846 - JSPM/SUM calls sapcontrol without user

credentials and I have parameter "service/protectedwebmethods = DEFAULT"

in DEFAULT Profile and restarted SAP System and sapstartsrv services in

both the nodes.

Again when restarted SUM from a newly extracted folder, it is again

saying to "check Error:The Provided pp1adm credentials are either

incorrect or SAP Note: 927637 should be applied."

As per Note: 927637, I have checked the permissions of sapuxuserchk in

both /usr/sap/PP1/JC00/exe and /usr/sap/hostcontrol/exe and it looks fine.

Also I have checked whether the /usr/sap file system is mounted with

"nosuid". This one is also looking fine.

Is the sapuxuserchk file having the correct ownership and permissions ?

Check the SAP note 927637 - Web service authentication in sapstartsrv as of Release 7.00
