Limitation on number of chars for Field "Reason"

Hello Experts,

SAP IDM 7.2, SP8

1. I want to know if there is a standard way to find out the max number of characters allowed for "Reason" field (shown in below screenshot) .

This is defined for MXREF_MX_ROLE (with entry reference to MX_ROLE).

Ofcourse, when I check the total characters accepted by field "Reason" , then it comes out to be 257 chars.

I understand that this "Reason" field represents LinkReason but I did not find max characters allowed in documentation (click on Specifying properties when writing attribute values (To identity store pass))

2. Is there a way to increase the max number of chars for this field ?

In one of our business case , there is a request from end users to allow them to enter more number of chars.

In one of request , user entered 346 chars.

Hello Pradeep,
                      yes there was a limitation of 255 characters for this. However see note

1994593 Text given as Reason during request/approval processing is cut

at 255 characters   which increases the characters possible.

Thank you very much for this info.

I checked Note 1994593  and found that it is valid for IDM7.2 SP9 but we are on IDM 7.2 SP8.

Do we have solution for SP8 also?
