In our transportation system we have 5 folders in the directory E:\usr\sap\trans\buffer named [SID]_snapshots.
e.g. E:\usr\sap\trans\buffer\PRD_snapshots
These folders contain over 50gb of data.
Can anyone advise on the best way to remove or archive this data and what are the implications of deleting it?
I have already looked through SAP note 41732, but this doesn't pertain to these particular folders. Any help would be much appreciated!
Hi Paul,
These snapshots hold static information related buffer and can be archived.
You can simply and safely remove old files to other file systems and compress them.
These are created in if "buffersnapshot=ture" is set in transport profile.
If this was set, you should keep lastes snapshots, perhaps of an year and move the old ones.
There is only one SAP note that talks about it, at that was already shared before.

Hi Paul
1. Just take the backup of buffer folder along with PRD_snapshot folders.
2. clear the folder PRD_snapshots
3. check the STMS
Could you share the screen shot of PRD_snapshot

I believe they are created if you have buffersnapshot set to true.
