BW Migration from 7.0 to 7.3

Dear SCN,

I am BW/BI Consultant. Before posting this thread i have read all the threads which is already posted in SCN regarding migration of BW. But i am unable to find answers for my requirement.

Currently we are planing for BW migration from 7.0 to 7.3.

Now i would like to know what was the minimum requirement in terms of hardware like os,database, etc?.

To upgrade bw do we require any hardware changes like OS level and Database level?

Currently my OS is HP-UX 11.23

Data Base is Oracle 11.2.0.2.0

And also please let me know if there is any prerequisite SAP note before migration.

Hi Praveen,

For BW system, you should look for an optimum rather than a minimum requirement.

You should check with quick sizer, just for suggestions on the hardware size.

May be, you get a new box and do a system copy and then install and upgrade BW on a new server.

For compatibility,  you can check PAM for OS and DB.

And for notes, there can be many, you need to 1st look at the upgrade guide.

Basically you need to have a supported OS and DB for the target system.

Here is what PAM says about the OS and DB requirement.

If you have the minimum level for OS and DB then you can upgrade the system to 7.3
