Hi,

When we report event in TM , in execution node we have the status a) Directly reported for the document  b) reported from EM.

Whats the basic difference between them. Does point b, means that event is reported in em web UI and then thru RFC , it gets updated in TM.

Hi Dipak,

Check this link Tracking of Freight Units - Integration - SAP Library

There are two ways of reporting the expected event:

  • When your carrier sends an event message from the SAP Event Management Web user interface to SAP TM, SAP TM updates the freight unit with the information in the event message.
  • When you update the freight unit directly in SAP TM, SAP TM sends an event message to SAP Event Management. SAP Event Management updates the data for the freight unit.

I believe, you are looking for this.

Yes, it would be via RFC to update SAP TM -> SAP EM or vice versa.

actually I would like to know the implication of difference in the status we have in TM UI when  an event is reported.

Sometimes in execution node it shows :read from EM and sometimes it shows directly reported for the document. Also how do we know from TM UI; if an event is reported via an interface or automatically reported by changing certain status in TM business document.

Hi Dipak,

As GOPI mentioned, there are 2 ways of reporting the expected events to TM

  1. Via EM (In this case the event is propagated to the execution tab via RFC)
  2. Directly in TM

There are no implications as such. This depends on the business requirement.

For example:

Scenario1: There can be some event which should be posted via background jobs running in TM (e.g Tendering events). These events would read "Directly from this document".

Scenario2: Event reported by the carrier can be EDIs to either TM or EM. In case it is to TM, then the execution information show it as "Directly from this document". If it is via EM (e.g. EDI 214), then execution information show it as  "From EM"

Hope this is clear now !!

Thanks,

Deb

Hi,

If an user/interface  is reporting an event is there any way where user ID is captured who reported an event.

Secondly I also find some events are reported via aleremote or BC_batch,Whats the basic difference between them reporting an event

Hi Dipak,

If you use EM Web UI to report events, then the current user captured is the USER.

But, if the events are reported via EDI/IDOCs, then the program to process IDOCs are recorded as the reporting user. It can be ALEREMOTE or BC_batch.

Sometimes, IDOCs are not processed immediately and collected to process via background job. In this case, the user would be BATCH.

Thanks,

Deb
