Failover and VLDB licensing question

Former Member

Hi All

Just been thinking. We have our VLDB license on the Coordinator machine. What happens when you do a failover? Obliously you would need the licence on the designated failover machine as well to run as a Coordinator. Would that mean that you have to generate the VLDB licence for both machines?

YSE, the customer would need to purchase a standby license for the vldb option. Or check it in and checkout a new one on the new host. Or use a served license.

For the check in/out: in the past the the number of check in/out operations was limited - once reached the max number of changes, the customer had to ask sybase to reset some licensing counters on our servers (not IQ). Did SAP removed this limit?

But how would a served license not still need to have a VLDB generated for each failover?
